As a flying club are able to put on various events throughout the year which can raise funds for good causes. We have several regular fly-in events at Colemore Common, such as the Frosty Soup meeting, usually run in early January with warm food and drinks provided in return for donations to our chosen charity. We have a summer BBQ, again with food provided in return for donations, and we run a raffle at club meetings to raise funds.
Every year at the club’s AGM the members vote on which charity our activities will support in the following year. Members are asked to put forward nominations for organisations who could benefit from our support and a vote is taken by the rest of the members present.
We also run one of the major events on the Microlighting calendar, Spamfield. This is a fly-in event on the Isle of Wight that can attract up to 400 aircraft over a weekend if the weather is good. Any profits made are donated to charity.
